Letter from the President
Dear GWGA Member,
At the last Board of Directors meeting for the Georgia Women’s Golf Association, the following changes were made after review and discussion of the evaluations and comments received over the last two years regarding the Championship tournament.
1. The Handicap Index for being required to play from the Championship Tees has dropped to 5.4.
2. The Frances Rich Award has been eliminated.
3. Caddies will be allowed, but not required, for the State Amateur for the Championship flights. Players will still be required to pay for carts.
A player with a 10 Handicap Index or less may elect to play from the Championship Tees.
Research done over the last two years indicate that State Amateurs who host two sets of tees only award flight prizes to the forward tee competitors.
Research also shows that other State Amateurs allows caddies. In some instances, it actually speeds play. In that vein, GWGA is continually seeking to improve the pace of play.
Thank you for your past comments and evaluations. The Board of Directors look forward to serve this wonderful organization for our women golfers. Thank you for your support and please feel free to contact me or any of your Directors with any questions or comments.
See you at Stonebridge Golf and Country Club in Albany on July 29, 30 and 31!
Sincerely,
Jodie Shepard
President, GWGA
