Two hundred and twenty-eight golfers enjoyed competitive play on the Pine Lakes and Indian Mounds Courses on Jekyll Island on April 27 & 28th. The courses were in great shape and the weather could not have been any better.

Congratulations to GWGA’s President Mary Helen McElreath and her teammate Sandra Moody – the winners of the 38th Annual Georgia Women’s Golf Association’s Four-Ball Tournament. Mary Helen and Sandra’s home course is Gordon Lake Golf Club in Augusta, GA. Their combined two-day net score of 118 was the same score that it took to win last year’s four-ball event.

Second place goes to the team of Susan Clonts and Beth Shepard who had a combined net score of 121. Susan and Beth are from Canongate on White Oak Golf Course in Newnan, GA.

Coming in third was the 2009 winning team of Sissi Gann and Fran Coody with a combined net score of 124. Sissi and Fran are from Houston Lakes Country Club in Perry, GA.

The tournament was first played in 1973 at the Sea Palms Golf Club on St. Simons Island and has been played at Jekyll Island every year since 1984. The format is a 36-hole, low net tournament. Plan now to be with us next spring.
